Editing

Services

We offer two standard service types: focused editing or proofreading.

Focused Editing

Focused Editing is chosen by most of our clients.

The service includes everything you would expect from the proofreading service (outlined below), but also involves advice on style, format, tone and consideration of your target audience.

Corrections are still made using “track changes” in Microsoft Word, so you can still choose to approve these one by one or all together.

Specific comments will also be added at the side of the page advising on stylistic changes where more than one phrasing may be appropriate or explaining a change that was made for reasons of tone, format or style and not because of a technical error.

Using Focused Editing, you will have a clear idea of why changes were made as well as how so that you have a full understanding of the finished document.

Proofreading

Proofreading is a faster, low-cost option for clients who are confident in the overall structure and language use, but want to avoid glaring mistakes, typos and grammatical errors.

Proofreading involves the correction of technical spelling and grammar errors as well as of excessive repetition in phrasings and structures.

Corrections are made using “track changes” in Microsoft Word.  Therefore, you can choose to view and approve each and every alteration to your work, or you can simply “approve all” and the edited copy is ready for you.  If you choose to use hard copy editing then all editing changes will be marked on a photocopy; your original copy will not be marked and will be sent back with the edited photocopy.
